Tommy Roberts jr. Walks 700 kilometers to Berlin
In August 2005 TJ and his Dad decided: We walk from Kempten to Berlin – for a job. In their backs: A lot of impotant awards and many fans, but (or just because of this): The new CD have to become much more better! And not with the contract offers, which would have wanted Tommy to do something else as what he already did with the age of eleven – with his love for the American music.
After six weeks and 700 kilometers the two want to ring at Universal Music in order to take their business philosophy with the words: “We have to and we want to create new basic conditions, in order to concentrate on that for what we stand for: Music. More then ever before we should set on young artists, who give new impulses to the music. Future is done. And we do this now

Wendsday, October 12th, 2005 –Walking through German-German history“There are just two things for me: You do it or you don´t do it and I do it”, with these words Dad woke up pretty silently. I avoid it to ask him about it – I know him, and so to discuss with him is pointless. In the radio station in Hof at Radio Euroherz/Galaxy a lot of nice people welcomed us with good coffee. They prepared a live-interview with me (all the time Dad sneezed) and they also wanted something special for me: They wanted me to sing live and unplugged in the radio. I was pretty nervous because of that but I know that my voice works even without some technical equipment. Because of Christina, the moderator with a nice voice (also her outlook) I nearly forgot my text, but I think now the audience understand why I “Walk To Berlin”. Afterwards we went to TV-Oberfranken, to pick up the DVD of the reportage last week. There were also very nice people and I hope that we will see us again there. Thank you so much guys I will never forget what you did for me! After the interview and the visit we had to got to the next date: a shooting for the Frankenpost and all the time Dad lokked on his watch because we had to go back on the road to arrive our today´s finish in Plauen. When we passed the former border to the GDR (German Democratic Republic), Dad told me as much as he know from the media or his history lessons the history of the splited nation. In 1989 I was just two years old at the reunion. Well we passed the former border a few times with the car, but walk through the former border is an absolutley different feeling. His report influenced me for the rest of the day, so I want to know more about it when I am home again. The countryside of the Vogtland is so beautiful and people araund it are nice and helpful – a region in what I will come back later on. My experiences let me see my country with very different eyes, and now I have my drivers licence and on a later tour I will leave the highway – because Germany is so beautiful! Live un plugged at Radio Euroherz
Wendsday, October 12th, 2005 – “When you say nothing at all”The newest stories for our dairy will follow later, because today we had a lot of stress. Because of a very strong cold nearly Dad had to interrupt, but after a good night he was fit again. Or it is like a routine for him... See you later! A Care parcel in the right moment
Tuesday, October 11th, 2005 – A violent march till HofThe day in Münchberg started very bad: Dad had a strong cold with rheumatic pains in his face ( not just there...), and the best I wanted to bring him back in his bed. He stood there like a roboter and told me with a damage voice: “Now we will do this together what we did the last three weeks.” We opend the door and another nice golden October morning welcomed us on the road. I asked myself if we were so good that we deserve such a good weather? (I think yes, because everyday our plates are empty, the glases with the beer too and we go to bed at 10:00 pm and besides this you wished us this!) The march through Hof was not so much stress like in the last days, so we cannot go so fast because of Dad´s cold to pull back the missed march. He don´t want to lay in the Hymer RV, I don´t want to carry him ( although he lost weight) and the legs of Julchen are to short to ride on her. Dad says that he does it for himself, to swim with the sharks later on. I don´t want to tell you the rest of his words, but I am very proud of him and I learned something new. Now I want to tell you something about the evening, because we had a surprise. We stand with our RV in Raitschin nerby Hof. A nice restaurant with a good cook (nearly as good as Mum) with a good beer from this region let us to enjoy our closing time. BUT a car with the number OA-... came on the parking lot, and the parents of our good friend Achim Däumler from the Harley reserved table for the regulars got out of the car. They had something in their hands with the signs on it:”Care parcel” that they gave us. They both have their holidays in Plauen and they had the mission to surprise us. Hey friends. That was good: with so much care there is much move; and original cheese from the mountains in the Allgäu and a lot of chocolate will give us the kick for our march (well I hoped it would be a Wild Glide from the 70ies). We enjoyed a nice evening and every minute we noticed that Dad recovered. Almost we got a blue eye because we said that he should have a rest in the bed and should not walk tomorrow. Tomorrow we will have two dates with the press which need a lot of time (of course with pleasure) and because of this now we have to go tp bed. Good night John Boy... |
